Bristol Palin Pregnancy - Sarah Palin’s daughter ???

Rumors are flying that Bristol Palin, Sarah Palin’s teen-age daughter, is the real mother of 5-month old Trig Palin. Did Sarah Palin invent an elaborate cover-up to keep her daughter’s pregnancy out of the public eye? Read the story and see photos.

So, is Trig really Sarah Palin’s baby, or is he her grandson? People are asking that question and are pushing for an answer. Most of the questions center around the fact that Sarah Palin didn’t announce her pregnancy until a few weeks before she gave birth. Photos of her teen-age daughter, Bristol Palin (above right), late in 2007 show Bristol Palin with a rounded tummy. The story is further complicated in that Bristol Palin was taken out of school this past year for up to five months because of a bad case of mono.

What do you think? I doubt that someone as politically savvy as Sarah Palin would be so naive as to believe she could keep such a monumental cover-up secret while running as VP of the USA. And why would she attempt the cover-up to begin with? Teenage pregnancies are a rather common fact of life in modern society. The “shame and disgrace” that people felt years ago are mostly nonexistent these days. I hope the Palin’s will provide proof that Trig is their own quickly in order to counter these rumors. And, if the rumors are true, then handle them immediately in order to end all the speculating.

Photos/pictures of the Palin family at “7 months pregnant” are below.

Obama Democratic Convention Speech

Obama puts finishing touches on convention speech

Barack Obama aims to weave the personal with the political tonight as he tells 75,000 supporters in a football stadium -- and millions more at home -- how as president he would make a difference in their lives.

The Republicans weren't just sitting back to watch on TV. GOP rival John McCain stayed mum about his running mate deliberations, but one top prospect -- Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty -- abruptly canceled numerous public appearances, as speculation increased in intensity.

McCain was expected to announce his decision by week's end, possibly Friday, hoping to take the edge off Obama's big convention finale.

Obama put finishing touches on his speech this morning, but also found time to shoot some hoops on a basketball court at the Denver Athletic Club.

He also spoke to a luncheon for female Illinois delegates. "I had this speech tonight. I wanted to practice it out on you guys. See if it worked on a friendly audience," Obama joked. He didn't actually give the speech.

"I haven't forgotten where I came from," he added. "It's because of all of you that Michelle and I have this great honor of helping to lead the party and win back this White House."

Aides said his address accepting the Democratic presidential nomination would be a "direct conversation" with Americans on what's at stake and the risks of putting another Republican in the White House.

Obama, who first gained national prominence just four years ago in a speech to the 2004 Democratic Convention as a little-known Illinois state senator, was also expected to draw contrasts with rival John McCain and try to dispel any remaining concerns Americans might have about his capability to govern.

Obama accepts the Democratic nomination Thursday night at Denver's Invesco Field at Mile High.

Three hours before the day's program began, as many as 1,000 people were lined up at a pedestrian entrance to the stadium. On a hot, sunny day, security people were advising the crowd to drink a lot of water. Nearby street parking was going for as much as $80 a space.

"Senator Obama's speech tonight will be as he himself has characterized it, more workmanlike, a very direct conversation with the American people about the choice we face in this election. About the risk of staying on the same path we're on, the risk of just more of the same versus the change we need," Obama spokeswoman Anita Dunn said in a conference call with reporters.

McCain appeared poised to name his running mate soon after the end of the Democratic convention, in hopes of curbing any bump in the polls that Obama might get as he and running mate Joe Biden and their wives begin a three-day bus tour of battleground states on Friday, beginning in Pennsylvania.

McCain, too, planned a rally in Pennsylvania, on Saturday.

He said in a radio interview that he was bringing to that event both former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, two of the leading names on his short list for vice president. But he cautioned against assuming that meant either one would be the pick.

"I haven't decided yet, so I can't tell you," he told KDKA NewsRadio in Pittsburgh in an interview that was taped on Wednesday.

Pawlenty, who was in Denver as part of a GOP team criticizing Democrats, deflected all questions about the possibility of being McCain's vice presidential pick. "I am scheduled to be in Minnesota tomorrow to be at the State Fair," was all he would say about his immediate plans.

Without explanation, Pawlenty called off an Associated Press interview at the last minute, as well as other media interviews in Denver, site of the Democratic National Convention.

Others believed to be in contention for the No. 2 slot on the GOP ticket included former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who was meeting with donors in California, and Democrat-turned-independent Sen. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut, who was vacationing on Long Island.

Both campaigns see Pennsylvania as an important battleground.

"This is not hyperbole: We cannot win without Pennsylvania," Biden, who spent part of his youth in Scranton, Pa., told Pennsylvania delegates at a breakfast Thursday.

Hurricane Gustav's Track - What Has Been Predicted ???

Hurricane Gustav

We sit and we wait as Hurricane Gustav heads toward what one could only hope will still be their home after the storm blows through. Many are wondering about Hurricane Gustav's track and where it will be heading. The national weather center had reported only moments ago that Hurricane Gustav's track is headed toward the Gulf of Mexico, as reported by the Jamaica Observer.

Hurricanes are every bit as scary as they sound, and those who may be living though Hurricane Gustav should listen to the news as often as they can for updates.

Here are a few hurricane survival tips:

* Hurricanes have massive winds and can tear through a house in a matter of seconds. If you are facing the event of a hurricane like Gustav you should listen for updates on vacating the area or for where the hurricane is headed.

* There is no exact way of telling where a hurricane could hit but they usually give a pretty accurate location. To be on the safe side, if I was in the surrounding areas I would also leave if there has been a warning to vacate the area.

* In the event that you are not able to vacate the area along with everyone else you should at least pack a safety bag and know where you should seek cover if the hurricane hits. Having a plan will help you to keep yourself safer.

Every year, people die from hurricanes like Gustav and you should keep this in mind when you are trying to make the decision to follow everyone or to stay in the area.

Hurricane Gustav track can not be fully determined, but with all the technology that is available they can tell you approximately where the hurricane will hit and approximately how strong it will be.

As of right now, weather services are predicting Hurricane Gustav will be close to a category 3 hurricane. A hurricane is dubbed as such when it reaches winds of 70 miles per hour. Here in Oklahoma, it isn't unusual to get winds that high throughout the year, but I couldn't imagine having it in the form of a hurricane.

Hurricane Gustav's Track Causes Oil Prices to Spike

Hurricane Gustav, the 7th Atlantic storm of the season, is now predicted to hit the Gulf of Mexico this coming weekend. Hurricane Gustav's track is currently trending toward Haiti and Cuba, and the U.S. Military Installation at Guantanamo Bay is making storm preparations. Gustav's previous track would have meant a direct hit to Gitmo, but now Hurricane Gustav's track is off shore. Reuters reports that Hurricane Gustav's aim toward the Gulf of Mexico has translated into a spike in the cost per barrel of oil, whereas we've previously been enjoying falling prices per barrel, resulting in cheaper gas at the pump.

Though currently only a Category 1 hurricane, the Gulf's warm waters would feed Gustav and potentially cause an escalation in Gustav's category status to a Category 3 or higher. Katrina made land fall, 3 years ago this week, as a Category 3.

Hurricane Gustav's path and comparison to Hurricane Katrina

Hurricane Katrina is still fresh in the mind of many Americans, though it has been nearly 3 years since she wreaked her wrath on the Gulf Coast and New Orleans. Aside from the sheer damage and loss of life, Katrina and subsequently Rita, caused an incredible amount of damage to oil platforms in the Gulf of Mexico, resulting in a huge spike in gas costs. Refineries were heavily damaged, causing a shortage in fuel. Gas prices soared over $3 a gallon in short order, a jump of 30-40 cents overnight, back in early September 2005, shortly after Katrina hit. Hurricane Gustav's track currently makes a Gulf hit a possibility.

Clearly, a Gulf hit of the same proportions of Hurricane Katrina could re-devastate the recovery efforts in the Gulf, not to mention the oil industry in the Gulf region. Americans are still feeling many of the effects of Katrina's wrath on their pocket book, considering that gas prices have yet to drop to pre-Katrina levels.

Hurricane Gustav - gaining strength south of Haiti

Rapidly growing Hurricane Gustav headed for a collision with impoverished Haiti on Tuesday, driving many people off the potholed streets of the capital, but bringing few other outward signs of preparation.

The storm was also on track to slice along the south coast of Cuba during the week — possibly growing into a perilous Category 3 hurricane with 115 mph (185 kph) winds by the weekend, according to the U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami.

Forecasters said the hurricane's maximum sustained winds were near 90 mph (150 kph) Tuesday morning, with higher gusts. They said it could become a Category 2 hurricane with winds of 96 mph (154 kph) or higher before hitting Haiti.

Forecasts suggested that Hurricane Gustav's eye might pass near the capital of Port-au-Prince, home to nearly 3 million people.

A light rain fell on Port-au-Prince as the sun rose on an overcast Tuesday. The city's rough streets, often bustling with commerce at the crack of dawn, were largely empty as merchants took refuge.

"The government orders the population to take precautions because this storm will bring a lot of rain," Interior Minister Paul Antonine Bien-Aime told Radio Ginen in an interview repeated several times early Tuesday.

American Airlines canceled all flights in and out of Port-au-Prince.

Preparations for the storm appeared to be minimal and in the hurricane-prone southwestern city of Les Cayes, smack in the hurricane's path, at least some people without access to television or satellite images said they doubted a storm was even approaching.

"There's no rain and wind, the sky is clear, cars are traveling everywhere.

I don't think there's a hurricane," Marc Andre, a 22-year-old motorcycle taxi driver, said over his cell phone.

Yet Haitians are accustomed to the power of such blasts. Flooding caused by storms and hurricanes killed more than 100 people in Haiti and scores in the Dominican Republic last year. In 2004, Tropical Storm Jeanne killed some 3,000 people in the Haitian city of Gonaives alone.

The hurricane was centered about 75 miles (125 kilometers) south-southeast of Port-au-Prince and was moving toward the northwest at near 9 mph (15 kph).

On Monday, Carnival Cruise Lines diverted one of its ships from Montego Bay, Jamaica, to a Mexican port to avoid the storm, company spokesman Vance Gulliksen said. Other cruise lines said they were closely tracking its path.

In Jamaica, officials alerted shelters to prepare for possible evacuations during the storm that is forecast to pass near the island Wednesday.

The commander of the Guantanamo military base in Cuba, where the U.S. holds about 265 men, many suspected of belonging to al-Qaida or the Taliban, ordered U.S. military personnel to prepare for a hit.

Vulnerable to high winds are dozens of tents pitched on an abandoned runway where those attending war-crimes trials for alleged terrorists are housed. No hearings are scheduled this week.

Army Maj. Richard Morehouse, a spokesman for detention operations at the base, told The Associated Press that the lockups housing detainees "are capable of withstanding hurricane-force winds and rain."

Earlier this month, Tropical Storm Fay killed 23 people on the island of Hispaniola shared by Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Nearly all were due to flooded rivers.

Meanwhile, the remnants of Fay brought heavy rain and winds from Georgia to Louisiana. Floridians were still mopping up floodwaters from a storm that stuck around for a week and made a historic four landfalls, dumping more than 30 inches (76 centimeters) of rain along the central Atlantic coast.

The National Weather Service said the vestiges of Fay would deluge northern Georgia, with 3 inches (8 centimeters) to 5 inches (13 centimeters) of rain expected in the Atlanta area and up to 8 inches (20 centimeters) in northeast Georgia. In Alabama, flash flood and tornado warnings were posted.

In Mexico, Tropical Depression Julio continued to weaken as it dumped rain on the central Baja California peninsula and the upper Gulf of California.

The National Hurricane Center said Julio was about 110 miles (180 kilometers) north-northwest of Santa Rosalia, Mexico, with sustained winds of about 30 mph (50 kph).

Michelle Obama Pregnant ???

Is Michelle Obama pregnant? The wife of presidential contender Barack Obama is all set for her big moment in the sun on Monday in Denver as she is speaking at the Democratic National Convention. Her goal is to makeover her image that has taken a pounding ever since she first said that she had never been proud of the United States of America until her husband was favored to win the White House.

So where are all of these inquiries about Michelle Obama being pregnant coming from? One report blames it on Rush Limbaugh and claims that the conservative radio talk show host got all of this started with what appears to be a little poking and prodding and with what may have been a throw away line. Though I didn't hear the show today it is being reported that Rush Limbaugh has said that he believes Michelle Obama may have a big announcement to make tonight in Denver.

According to a report, "On his radio broadcast this morning, Rush Limbaugh speculated that Michelle Obama may have an announcement to make in her speech to the Democratic Convention tonight." That must have leaped to the Michelle Obama is pregnant reports.

Michelle Obama and her husband Barack Obama were married on October 18, 1992, and controversial preacher and Barack mentor Rev. Jeremiah Wright performed the ceremony. They were married at Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, Illinois. Right now the couple have two daughters, Malia Ann Obama was born in 1999 and Natasha Obama was born in 2001. Is there another on the way or is this speculation blown way out of proportion?

Obama’s baby

Last night I had some theoretical thoughts about Obama -

What would happen if Barack & Michelle Obama decided that they want a third child while they still can (She was born in 1964, which makes her 44)?

They could conceive it this week in Denver, and when the time comes (maybe in a month or so) announce that Michelle Obama is pregnant and is due in June 2009.

So my questions are: Do you think that such an announcement will help him win the election in November?

Will that be the first (legitimate) baby born to a sitting president?

If it’s (another) girl, will it be ok if they name her America Obama?

2008 Olympics Beijing - Olympics Closing Ceremony

The opening ceremony of Beijing Olympic watched by 32.2 million people in United States alone that was bigger than the American Idol this year’s season. The Beijing Olympics Closing Ceremony on Sunday will have more or less 7,000 participants and none of the 15,000 people who were in the opening ceremony will be in the finale.

Chinese Students will be involved during the Olympics Closing Ceremony and this finale deserves to be praised B/c the show will be Directed by Zhang Yimou who also directed the opening ceremony. Celebrities are expected, like Michael Phelps, David Beckham and a performance by singer Leona Lewis with Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page. Well, we hope there will be no bogus this time!

Olympic closing ceremony to feature 7,000 people

Olympic closing ceremonies usually offer less of a spectacle than opening nights, and the Beijing finale will have less than half the participants — but that's still about 7,000 people.

NBC Sports executive David Neal said Thursday he traveled 90 minutes west of Beijing to see a rehearsal of the ceremony conducted in secret on a college campus. Chinese filmmaker Zhang Yimou, who directed the opening ceremony, does the same for the Sunday's finale, set to air via tape delay at 7 p.m. EDT on NBC.

"It's just unlike any other closing ceremony I've ever seen," said Neal, executive vice president of NBC Olympics. Usually a simple vehicle for extinguishing the Olympic flame and setting the stage for the next games, this year's ceremony will have a great deal of entertainment, he said.

The opening ceremony was seen by 34.2 million people in the United States, a bigger audience than this year's "American Idol" finale. NBC will air the ceremony taped rather than live (Beijing's time zone is 12 hours ahead of the eastern U.S.). The same thing happened with the opening ceremony and NBC was concerned when some highlights got out over the Internet before they were broadcast on the network. But, if anything, it whetted the appetite of people who later watched on TV.

Bigfoot hoax exposed ???

Bigfoot hoax exposed when ice melted

In their version of events, Matt Whitton and his friend Rick Dyer, a former Georgia corrections officer, chanced on the hulking remains of Bigfoot as they hiked a remote mountainside in the north of the state.

"We are now the best Bigfoot trackers in the world," Mr Whitton confidently declared at a packed press conference last week, describing the find he said would prove beyond doubt the existence of the legendary ape-like beast.

"It's not a human, it's not an ape," Mr Whitton, a Georgia police officer, told the assembled media. "It's definitely something we have never seen before...Everyone who has talked down to us is going to eat their words."

They produced a YouTube video last month announcing their find. They launched a website, Bigfoottracker.com. In a press release, they described the creature as a 7-foot-7 male, weighing 550 pounds (nearly 40 stone) with 16-inch human-like feet and reddish hair. A photograph of the carcase showed a hairy ape-like being stuffed into a freezer - they said they found the remains encased in ice.

Veteran Bigfoot researcher Tom Biscardi, who runs Searching For Bigfoot, was curious enough to travel to Georgia to meet the men. On his return he told Fox News he had seen and smelt the carcase and was convinced "it was not a mask".

Samples had been sent for DNA analysis, he said, and he was confident what they would show.

Others, however, had reservations. Steve Kulls, executive director of squatchdetective.com and host of Squatchdetective Radio, had interviewed Mr Dyer and failed to "get an accurate read on him".

He put him in touch with Mr Biscardi and was an "independent observer" as Mr Biscardi and his team took possession of the so-called evidence, "a freezer with something appearing large, hairy, and frozen in ice", in return for an undisclosed sum.

Writing in a posting on Mr Biscardi's website, searchingforbigfoot.com, Mr Kulls said that as the "evidence" thawed, the men's claims swiftly began to unravel.

As the hair became exposed, a sample was extracted and burned. The results caused "concerns", Mr Kulls notes, as the "sample melted into a ball uncharacteristic of hair".

The thawing process was accelerated and within an hour the partly exposed head could be seen.

"As I was now able to touch it, I was able to feel that it seemed mostly firm, but unusually hollow in one small section," Mr Kulls writes. "This was yet another ominous sign.

"Within the next hour of thaw, a break appeared up near the feet area. As the team and I began examining this area near the feet, I observed the foot which looked unnatural, reached in and confirmed it was a rubber foot."

When Mr Whitton and Mr Dyer were contacted, they confessed the remains were a costume and agreed to sign a statement admitting what they had done, Mr Kulls writes. But the pair failed to show up as arranged for a meeting.

The men's website was on Wednesday still offering Bigfoot expeditions for $499 and their tipline had the message: "If you hear of any leprechauns, unicorns, large cats or dinosaurs, leave us a message with your tip."

"It's heart-wrenching," Bob Schmalzbach, vice president of Searching for Bigfoot, told Fox News. "This we thought was an answer to a mystery that's been going on for far too long. The best term I can use is it was heart-breaking."

Mr Kulls said in his posting that "the motives behind this fraud are still unknown at this time. It is still unclear why Whitton who, being a police officer for the Clayton County Police Department in Georgia, got up before the world and lied and was complicit in a scheme to defraud."

Jeff Turner, chief of Clayton County police which employs Mr Whitton, who is on leave after being shot in the arm, said he had not spoken to the officer but processed paperwork to fire him.

"Once he perpetrated a fraud, that goes into his credibility and integrity," Mr Turner told the Associated Press. "He has violated the duty of a police officer."

Bigfoot Evidence Delayed ???

One thing is for sure: people just love fairy tales and myths, and when something like the capturing of Bigfoot hits the newspapers, people just go crazy. For a good businessman, it is easy to see the financial potential in such a popular subject and when two such men put their minds together, the outcome of such a publicity stunt is taken to whole new level.

Matt Whitton, a retired Clayton County police officer and Rick Dyer, a tow truck operator, both running the Bigfoottracker.com Web site, claim to be the first people ever to have actually caught a Bigfoot; dead, but non the less a Bigfoot. They immediately alerted the media, telling everyone about their trip in the woods of northern Georgia, where the corpse was found.

"Everyone who has talked down to us is going to eat their words," predicted Matt Whitton a few days back.

The two explained that the body is kept inside a freezer in order to make sure that its state will not get worse and they even released a photo of it, many calling it a bad Halloween costume, a gorilla or a woolen rug. The official presentation has been delayed several times, with a series of explanations such as the extended time needed until the DNA results come in, then the necessity of a second round of DNA tests and now, apparently, they must wait for the arrival of two scientists from Russia.

The Web site offers details about the upcoming tests, which will be conducted by "a team of scientists including a molecular biologist, an anthropologist, a paleontologist and other scientists." The tests will demand at least two months of analysis and will take place at an undisclosed location, in order to make sure that the findings will be secure and that there will be no intrusions.

Even though the story seems to be far from the real deal, there are still some people who confirm it. One of them, and maybe not the most believable of the bunch, is Mr. Tom Biscardi, a well known Bigfoot hunter and owner of the Web site Searchingforbigfoot.com. He is linked to a series of Bigfoot hoaxes, as he claimed on several occasions to soon disclose real proof about Bigfoot’s existence. Regarding the present situation, he talked to the media about the Bigfoot’s body, which he actually got to see.

"They showed me the body. They took me to the area where they found it - -- it took a day and a half to get there. I got to be honest, when I first saw it I hated to see it in that state it was in. I wanted to capture one so the world could see it walking. I guess this is the next best thing for the time being," said Biscardi.

The trouble with such a marketing strategy is that it gets old really quickly and if this is indeed nothing more than a joke, they will soon run out of “proof” and the people will grow tired of the charade, turning their heads to the next big story.

Bigfoot Press Conference - 'DNA Evidence' ???

Bigfoot DNA shows creature is advanced form of man

Genetic testing of the Georgia Bigfoot confirms that the creature is an advanced form of man, and suggests that the human race is no longer evolution’s greatest achievement.

The findings were revealed at a press conference held in Palo Alto, California today by the Searching for Bigfoot company, which is representing the two Georgians who discovered the body of the creature two months ago.

After most of the reporters left the press conference,
Biscardi happened to mention that
the contents of the Bigfoot's stomach contained human remains,
indicating that they may enjoy serving man.

DNA results reveal that the creature known as ‘Bigfoot’ evolved from modern man,” announced Searching for Bigfoot’s CEO Tom Biscardi. “If you think about it, it makes sense. We are not well-adapted to our environment, and cannot survive cold weather without the aid of clothing and heated shelter. We suck. Bigfoot rules. Deal with it.”

Biscardi suggested negotiation with the Bigfoot race before the creatures evolve to the point where they decide they don’t need humans around anymore.

“Without a preemptive peace treaty, we could be toast,” he warned the assembled reporters. “At the rate the Bigfoot creatures are advancing, they may develop bulletproof skin, and then we’d be screwed because our firearms would be ineffective. That would then leave only nuclear weapons for our defense, and that might cause them to mutate into an even more highly-evolved life form. And Bigfoot regime change won’t work, because we don’t know which one of them is in charge. So we must negotiate.”

Creationists scoffed at Biscardi’s assessment of possible Bigfoot Armageddon, and said that if the Bigfoot race is indeed more highly-evolved than man it simply means they are God’s chosen people.

"Bigfoot" DNA Analysis at The Cabana Hotel

Guess what folks--people have found the elusive Bigfoot! And he's totally dead! And some guys in Georgia who found him in the woods are holding a press conference in California today to announce their discovery!

Yes, that is all true, according to Searching for Bigfoot.

The creature was found by Matthew Whitton (AKA Gary Parker) and Rick Dyer (residents of Georgia) in the woods in northern Georgia. (The exact location is being kept secret to protect the creatures.)

DNA testing was done on the body of Bigfoot, which looks like "it is part human and part ape-like." Bigfoot also walks upright. Apparently, the Bigfoot hunters spotted several more creatures on the day that they found this dead Bigfoot. (So do we call them Bigfeet?)

Ok, we can't even believe we're writing this right now. But the press conference announcing the DNA findings will be held at the Crowne Plaza Cabana Hotel in Palo Alto from noon to 1pm today. Sadly, only credentialed members of the press are allowed.

It's been a busy summer for this hotel. This is also the hotel where a case of hotel sick struck in early July. Ew...let's hope they keep the Bigfoot DNA away from the guests.

Alicia Sacramone falls !!!

Alicia Sacramone is sad face of these Games

Every morning, as the bus bringing me into the Olympic Green complex travels past the tennis stadium where the sport's biggest stars are playing this week, I wonder if Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have any idea what it is like to be Alicia Sacramone.

Her life is not like their lives, that's for sure.
The image of Alicia Sacramone shaking her head in disbelief and fighting tears after her poor performance in the women's gymnastics team finals is the face of these Games so far. She blamed herself for the Americans' losing the gold medal to China, which was a little too harsh, while realizing she would "have to live with my mistakes."

She's an Ivy League student with a future beyond gymnastics, but this was her one-and-only Olympic opportunity after four years of buildup. She blew it, and she knew it, acknowledging in various interviews that "pressure" and "nerves" got to her.
Sunday's individual vault finals will offer Alicia Sacramone a chance to leave Beijing with some better feelings, but the silver medal from the team competition will taunt her indefinitely.
And this is it, for a 20-year-old gymnast.

There's no U.S. Open next week for Alicia Sacramone, as there is for Federer and Nadal. There's no NBA season coming up for her, as there is for Jazz players Carlos Boozer and Deron Williams and their U.S. basketball teammates. Those guys may have gold-medal ambitions and enhanced endorsement potential, but their careers do not revolve around the Olympics - in contrast to the thousands of other athletes whose pursuits are totally defined by what happens during these 16 days in Beijing.

"Olympic people usually have a large portion of their life invested in that dream," said Rich Gordin, a Utah State University sports psychologist who has worked extensively with top-tier athletes.

Some of them have more at stake than others, obviously. The proof is in the NBC-driven schedule of these Games, staging Michael Phelps' swimming events and the gymnastics meets in the mornings in Beijing, prime time in the States. Phelps is capitalizing, coming through spectacularly in his quest for a record eight gold medals.

Yet whether their performances result in Wheaties box-style adulation as Kerri Strug and the other American women's gymnasts received after winning the gold in 1996 or the commentary from those who believe Sacramone "choked" when she failed to mount the balance beam on her first try and fell again during her floor exercise routine, there's a recovery process for every athlete.

"Gold medal or no medal, you still have to go through it," Gordin once told me.
Experts say that in the wake of a major competition, athletes will experience any of these strong emotions: euphoria, anger or depression.

I would guess you can rule out euphoria in Alicia Sacramone's case.
While figure skater Sasha Cohen was praised for persevering after falling during the finals in Turin two years ago and finishing second, there was no rationalizing of Alicia Sacramone's performance in various reviews. Saying she cost her team the victory is an exaggeration, even coming from her, because the Chinese won by 2- points, the equivalent of two touchdowns. With a better effort from her, the score would have been closer, but that's all.

Just the same, she will always wonder what happened in that last event. When she came twisting out of a tumbling pass and fell, Alicia Sacramone remembered thinking, "I can't believe I'm on the floor right now."

She was supposed to be on the floor, just not sitting on the floor.
The effects of her falls will be long lasting, but not permanent. Alicia Sacramone presumably will resume her studies at Brown University and move on from Beijing. "She's the strongest person I know," said Shawn Johnson, her mature, 16-year-old U.S. teammate.

But that characteristic will be tested Sunday, and for who knows how long after the Games are over.

BIGFOOT BODY FOUND - EVIDENCE AND DNA DETAILS TO BE PRESENTED AT A PRESS CONFERENCE ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 15th

FROM 12 N00N TO 1:00PM AT THE CABANA HOTEL-PALO ALTO IN PALO ALTO, CALIFORNIA.

A body that may very well be the body of the creature commonly known as “Bigfoot” has been found in the woods in northern Georgia.

DNA evidence and photo evidence of the creature will be presented in a press conference on Friday, August 15th from 12 Noon to 1:00pm at the Cabana Hotel-Palo Alto at 4290 El Camino Real in Palo Alto, California, 94306. The press conference will not be open to the public. It will only be open to credentialed members of the press.
Here are some of the vital statistics on the “Bigfoot” body:

*The creature is seven feet seven inches tall.
*It weighs over five hundred pounds.
*The creature looks like it is part human and part ape-like.
*It is male.
*It has reddish hair and blackish-grey eyes.
*It has two arms and two legs, and five fingers on each hand and
five toes on each foot.
*The feet are flat and similar to human feet.
*Its footprint is sixteen and three-quarters inches long and five and three-quarters inches wide at the heel.
*From the palm of the hand to the tip of the middle finger, its hands are
eleven and three-quarters inches long and six and one-quarter inches wide.
*The creatures walk upright. (Several of them were sighted on the same day that the body was found.)
*The teeth are more human-like than ape-like.
*DNA tests are currently being done and the current DNA and photo evidence will be presented at the press conference on Friday, August 15th.

The creature was found by Matthew Whitton and Rick Dyer (residents of Georgia) in the woods in northern Georgia. (The exact location is being kept secret to protect the creatures.)
Matthew Whitton and Rick Dyer will be flying in from Georgia to be at the press conference. Also present at the press conference will be Tom Biscardi, CEO of Searching for Bigfoot, Inc.

Whitton is a Clayton County, Georgia, police officer, who is currently on administrative leave after being wounded in the course of duty pursuing an alleged felon. Dyer is a former correctional officer. Whitton and Dyer are co-owners of bigfoottracker.com and Bigfoot Global LLC., a company that offers Bigfoot expeditions. Whitton and Dyer are working with Bigfoot hunter, Tom Biscardi, and Biscardi’s Searching for Bigfoot, Inc., to present and conduct the scientific study of the evidence and information on this body.

A few weeks ago, Whitton and Dyer announced the finding of the body on the “Squatch Detective” radio show, an internet based radio show hosted by Steve Kulls. While on that show, the commentator asked Rick Dyer “Would you allow one of our people to come down and verify the body?” Dyer replied, “The only person we would allow to come down and verify the body was ‘the real Bigfoot Hunter,’ Tom Biscardi.” The next day, the producer of the Squatch Detective show contacted Biscardi with pertinent information on how to contact Dyer and Whitton.

Extensive scientific studies will be done on the body by a team of scientists including a molecular biologist, an anthropologist, a paleontologist and other scientists over the next few months at an undisclosed location. The studies will be carefully documented and the findings will be released to the world, according to Biscardi.

Biscardi is known as “the real Bigfoot Hunter” because of his extensive investigations out in the field. He has been searching for Bigfoot since 1971 and over the past several years, he has been criss-crossing the United States and Canada tracking down the hottest leads on Bigfoot sightings.
Videography on the studies will be done under the supervision of Scott Davis, an independent producer and owner of TV Biz Productions in Phoenix, Arizona.

Currently, Tom Biscardi and his Searching for Bigfoot Team, in conjunction with Bigfoot Global LLC., are preparing to capture another of these creatures alive. That expedition will start very soon. The dates and the locations are being kept confidential.

The body that is currently being studied is being referred to as the “RICKMAT” creature, a name derived from the names of Rick Dyer and Matthew Whitton. [Cryptozoologist Loren Coleman recommends the term “Georgia Gorilla” be used to remove any taint of ego from the discovery, and so the general public, media, and science will have a comfortable moniker until a formal zoological name may be bestowed.]

Last year, a film that Biscardi produced about his investigations, called “Bigfoot Lives,” won first place in the Documentary category at the Pocono Mountains Film Festival. Biscardi also hosts a Bigfoot oriented internet radio show that can be heard on Wednesday nights from 7:00pm to 8:00pm PDT at www.bigfootliveradioshow.com. The show is heard in over thirty countries.

Searching for Bigfoot, Inc. has exclusive rights to all publishing rights, photo rights, television and film rights, production and distribution rights and other commercial opportunities related to the discovery and findings regarding this body and these creatures.

Interested parties may contact Searching for Bigfoot, Inc., in writing, at their mailing address, 1134 Crane St., Suite 216, Menlo Park, California 94025.

2008 Olympics Beijing - Chinese women win gold in gymnastic

BEIJING - In the traditional scoring system, China's tiny, young gymnasts might have settled for perfect 10s and kept the Americans in the game.

Instead, the new format enabled them to soar off the uneven bars on their dismounts and post high scores that clinched the women's team gold medal after the second of four rotations Wednesday.

The ages of some Chinese gymnasts have been questioned, amid suggestions they were too young for Olympic eligibility this year (16). But they left they no doubts about their ability to perform under pressure in front of loud, chanting fans at National Indoor Stadium and a country full of big expectations for them.

Thanks mostly to dominating the bars, the Chinese posted 188.90 points to the Americans' 186.525, with Romania (181.525) a distant third.
This figured to be among the best duels staged in any sport in these Games, and the Chinese were solid throughout. The final was made more tense and intriguing when the two favorites competed together in each event, while every score counted among each country's three performers.

That's why Alicia Sacramone shook her head in disbelief after falling during her floor exercise routine on the final rotation. But the Americans' chances of winning their first team gold medal since 1996 were long gone by then.

The US Gymnasts did pretty much everything they could, but their opponents were simply that much better. Standing several inches less than 5 feet and weighing maybe 75 pounds, China's gymnastics stars played bigger than Yao Ming in the final. The Americans needed to win the vault to open the meet, which they did, and they needed to win the balance beam, which they did. The part they could not control was China's stunning performance on the bars.

America's Nastia Liukin actually posted the best score (16.90) on bars, but China's duo of He Kexin (16.85) and Yang Yilin (16.80) were too much to overcome as the host country won the event by nearly two points.

The ultimate margin of victory was striking, because while China had won the preliminary competition by 1.475 points, the Americans were dealing with some injuries and had made five major mistakes. In its own way, that performance gave them confidence about their chances of making the final interesting.

"We're going to come back even stronger in the team finals," Shawn Johnson had said. "We're ready to fight for it."

As it turned out, this bout was over by the halfway point.
Unlike most gymnastics meets, where the top teams are competing in different events throughout, the Olympic final made the comparisons easy.

The Americans started with nice vaults by Bridget Sloan, Johnson and Sacramone, taking a solid lead. Chellsie Memmel, Johnson and, especially, Luikin followed with a decent bars performance, but the Chinese topped them resoundingly.

After a good beam performance brought them within a point after three rotations, the Americans faded on the floor and China finished off the rout.

2008 Olympics Beijing - Beijing enhanced Olympics show with faked 'fireworks'

Beijing Olympic organizers say their opening-ceremony fireworks
were enhanced by prerecorded footage.

Not all was what it seemed during the spectacular opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics.

Beijing organizers confirmed Tuesday that some of the fireworks display featured prerecorded footage.

Fireworks that burst into the shape of 29 gigantic footprints were shown trudging above the Beijing skyline to the National Stadium near the start of the ceremony.

Though the footprint-shaped fireworks were real, some of the footage shown to television viewers around the world and on giant screens inside the "Bird's Nest" stadium featured a computer-generated three-dimensional image.

"It was confirmed that previously recorded footage was provided to the broadcasters for convenience and theatrical effects -- as in many other big events," Beijing organizing committee spokesman Wang Wei said. "On the day of the ceremony there were actual footprints of fireworks from the south to the north of the city.

"However, because of the poor visibility of the night, some previously recorded footage may have been used."

The computerized images were produced by Crystal Digital Technology Co. of Beijing.

"We did our best to create a rendering that would look like the shot was taken live," company spokesman Lei Ming told the Beijing Times. "Most people could not tell the difference."

NBC said broadcasters Bob Costas and Matt Lauer told viewers the display was cinematic.

"This is actually almost animation," Lauer said on the air.

The ceremony won rave reviews around the world and was watched by more than 1 billion people.

In the United States on NBC, the ceremony averaged 34.2 million U.S. viewers, making it the biggest American television event since the Super Bowl.

Gmail Problems ???

Google Gmail Having Problems Again

Google Inc (GOOG.O: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) said on Monday that many users of its Gmail service are having trouble accessing their online e-mail accounts due to a temporary outage in a contacts system used by Gmail.

The problems began at about 2100 GMT, or 1400 PST, and a company spokesman said Google is starting to implement a fix for the problem right now.

“We are starting to roll out a fix now and hope to have the problem resolved as quickly as possible,” said a Google spokesman.

Google said an outage in the contacts system used by Gmail is preventing the e-mail system from loading properly. The company also said that the new incoming messages are safe evenif a user can not access their account.

Users across the United States, Canada and India reported problems with Gmail and a Google employee also reported that the company’s own corporate e-mail account was down. (Reporting by Daisuke Wakabayashi; editing by CarolBishopric)

Google Gmail users have trouble accessing accounts.

It seems that Google is having another of its hic-cups once again, but this time the downtime seems more serious. It appears that the down time is world wide and Google is struggling to get it fixed. According to this article at TechCrunch which states:

Gmail is having a system wide outage affecting multiple countries, and a whole bunch of its 100 million users are screaming about it on Twitter. Around 20 million people visit Gmail each day, according to Comscore, and they’re all seeing the same message. The first outages were reported at about 2 pm PST, 44 minutes ago. The Gmail blog is silent on the outage, instead giving readers some useful tips on customizing web clips.

Hello Google! Could you please post something on your blog letting us gmail users know what the heck is going on? This isn’t funny any longer. Your service is coming under deeper scrutiny by all of us. Shape up Google!

What do you think? Can we trust Google with our data? Or are they becoming another Yahoo?

Craigslist : Some thoughts about Craigslist Seattle

Craigslist Seattle

The Seattle Chill IS an established sociological phenomenon that has been extensively documented, written about and attracted academic interest. A growing number of research professionals are interested in learning why Seattle is such an angry, unwelcoming, repressed, socially backward little city.

Seattle Washington is a beautiful, well-populated city that lies along the northern west coast of the United States. Seattle is known for many things - famous coffee, the space needle, and some of the best professional fishing. It’s a city of endless possibilities, and is great for adults and children alike. If you are considering visiting or relocating to Seattle, it can be quite daunting trying to figure out where to go, what to see, where to stay, and where to eat among many other things. Craigslist takes the worry out of planning your trip or move with just one resourceful site. To make the most of your trip to Seattle, visit www.craigslist.org.

Craigslist is a user-friendly website and is very simple to use. You don’t need exceptional computer skills to competently use the site. To find information regarding Seattle, simply visit craigslist.org and click on Seattle, Washington. You’ll find an amazing database containing valuable information on Seattle. Craigslist Seattle is free to use and does not require a registration in order to access the information. You can also be rest assured that craigslist is safe to use, as the company even provides a link on their site on how to avoid scams and fraud while using craigslist. If you suspect illegal activity, craigslist provides a link you can click to confidentially report any violations.

Craigslist is also a wonderful location for finding various discussion groups and forums for people in Seattle. You can discuss topics such as job professions, community events, and general city information with other residents. It also stands to serve as much more than just a search website. In fact, craigslist also regularly teams up with the Seattle Police Department to help eliminate crime in the city. In November 2006, the Seattle P.D arrested over 120 people who attempted to engage in criminal activity, such as prostitution and drugs thanks to craigslist. Undercover police officers regularly pose as underage children to catch child predators and post ads for sexual solicitation to catch prostitutes. Craigslist Seattle is proud to support this effort to keep the city a safe place for everyone, including residents and visitors.

Nintendo of America is seeking enthusiastic candidates to fill Spanish and French Bilingual Product Testing positions. Product Testers at NOA test development software, identify programming errors and anomalies, evaluate product for content guidelines, and document testing phases of bug checks.

Surrounded by water on three sides, the city is difficult to get to. Commute times are longer. Traffic jams and basic life maintenance tasks snuff out hours that could be used to establish and maintain human relationships. Consequently people do not feel they have the capacity or energy to maintain the ones they’ve got, let alone start new ones.

Admittedly a seasonal factor, because the summers are glorious, but Seattle is characterized mainly by endless, gray, wet, dark winters. Nobody feels like connecting when the sun is gone for months. Seasonal affectedness disorder is a known mental condition, and the whole city suffers from it.

Too much new money from quick tech fortunes and unnatural real estate appreciation. It’s divided the Seattle population into haves and have-nots that hate each other — not on the basis of intelligence or faithful hard work, but on arbitrary, lotterylike terms: who lucked into the right employer or neighborhood and who didn’t. The wealth lottery is a key destabilizer and anger-breeder. That’s why your neighbor just stares at you instead of saying good morning. Maybe you bought your place outright on a whim while she’s drowning in a 30-year mortgage. She hates you for it.
