Working mother: Christina Aguilera discussed being a single parent on The Tonight Show last night
Her split from husband Jordan Bratman last month has left her bringing up her son Max as a single mother.
But Christina Aguilera seems to be taking it all in her stride.
'More power to the single mums out there,' she told Jay Leno during an appearance on The Tonight Show last night.
Wearing a black lacy dress and towering black high heels, the singer said her priority was to keep her 20-month-old son Max happy.
'He's just the happiest guy ever and I want to make sure he remains that way,' she told the talk show host.
Aguilera noted that she herself was raised by a single mother following her parents' divorce 'and that turned out fantastic,' she laughed.

'It’s hard, definitely,' she added. ' It’s hard just even being a working mum and trying to balance and juggle everything on your plate,' she added.
'I like to be the first thing [my son Max] wakes up to in the morning and the last thing he goes to bed at night seeing, and singing him his lullabies before bed.
'It means the world to me to be able to do that.'
The singer, who was married to Bratman for five years, confessed she would like Max's childhood to be a little calmer than her own upbringing.
Singing star: Aguilera belts out Bound To You, a ballad she wrote for her new film Burlesque in which she stars alongside Cher
'I grew up in a very chaotic household when I was younger so I want to make sure to instil in him a lot of love,' she said.
The proud mother showed off a photograph of she and Max who was dressed as Spider-Man as they trick or treated for Halloween last month.
She then took to the stage to belt out Bound To You, a ballad she wrote for her new film Burlesque, out in the U.S. on November 24.
The film sees Aguilera play a small town girl raised in foster homes, who chases her dreams to a Los Angeles Burlesque club.
It co-stars Cher as the club's proprietor alongside Stanley Tucci, Kristen Bell and Julianne Hough.
