Pamela Anderson was left terrified after seeing a man feared to be a crazed fan was arrested by police after a violent altercation with officers at Liverpool Lime Street railway station.

The 43-year-old blonde actress had finished her stint playing the Genie at the city's Empire Theatre and was about to begin her journey back to London when the drama happened.

The unidentified man had tried to board her carriage when police were alerted - but when they approached him, he turned violent and allegedly tried to bite an officer, forcing them to use capture spray before they arrested him.

British Transport Police told MailOnline that a 21-year-old man was arrested at 9pm last night at the station after an altercation took place in which a police officer was assaulted.

The statement continued: 'The man became verbally abusive to rail staff he was asked to produce a ticket. British Transport Police attended and the man became violent and assaulted an officer and was arrested.

'Officers were forced to use capture spray as the man resisted arrest.'

Witnesses told MailOnline that it was the same man who had been following the star for days during her stint in panto - causing her to hire extra security.

They said she had been left visibly terrified by the scenes.

Pamela had been left worried after having attracted the attention of an unwelcome, over-eager fan, despite happily meeting dozens of others during her stint in panto.

It's reported that he had bought tickets to see her in Aladdin 10 times in a row, and regularly waited outside the stage doors to catch a glimpse of his idol.

Pamela had been co-starring in the panto with Les Dennis, who played Wishee Washee.

Last year she played the Genie in Aladdin at London's New Wimbledon Theatre.
